Who is going to be the next Michael Jordan? Or, maybe a better question would be, is there a player right now in the NBA better than the original and one-and-only No. 23? Personally, I don't think so.

What do you think...Kobe, Lebron? No way!

Michael Jordan is, without a doubt, the GREATEST basketball player to ever play the game of basketball and there will never be anyone like him or better that he was--at least in my humble opinion.

Why? He was simply the best in all facets of the game of basketball!

He was the best not only because he could dunk the basketball from the free throw line, but he proved to everyone that, yes, we can all achieve our dreams.

And, more importantly, MJ genuinely loved the game of basketball. To him, playing basketball was not just a job to earn a paycheck...It was a passion! And, yes, there's a BIG difference.

Unlike most of the NBA players today, No. 23 didn't play basketball just to see how many more zeros that he could add to his paycheck, which is why he ALWAYS showed up every game to compete or "perform" at such a higher level above and beyond other professional basketall players. No one could match his intensity on the basketball court, period. Not then, not even now.

(In case you need to remember what a dominating basketball player MJ was when he was still in the NBA, check out just some of his highlight videos below...They're guaranteed to blow your socks off!!!)

Another positive trait that separated MJ from the "ordinary players" was his mental toughness and attitude towards the game of basketball. He wasn't always the biggest, tallest, fastest, strongest or the most athletic player on the basketball court, but he never backed down from any challenge, obstacle, or setback.

Did you know that Michael Jordan was intially cut from his high school basketball team? That's right! But you know what? He didn't give up on his dream to play the game of basketball.

Instead, he practiced more often and worked harder to improve as a basketball player and prove to his coach that he belonged on the team. The end result? He earned a spot on his high school basketball team and the rest, as they say, is history.

If you would like to some day be considered one of the best basketball players in the world, check out these basketball drills.

Imagine for a moment, if Michael Jordan had given up the first time he got cut from his high school basketball team...You probably won't be reading this article today. What's the moral of the story? No matter what your dream is, stay focused, work hard, don't listen to the naysayers, and NEVER give up!

Michael Jordan is considered the greatest basketball player to ever play the game of basketball, because he earned it. He had to defeat some incredible championship teams and hall-of-fame caliber star basketball players (such as, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas,Charles Barkley and more) on his way to winning six NBA titles.

And, his numerous awards are mere symbols of how he dominated every facet of the game in the NBA. I think it is safe to say that a void was definitely created when Michael Jordan decided to retire from the NBA for good.

Michael Jordan Wins First Championship.

Michael Jordan's first championship trophy in 1991Michael won his first NBA championship with the Bulls in 1991, but he didn't stop there. He won two more consecutive NBA championships with the Bulls in 1992 and 1993, securing a "three-peat."

After a sudden departure from the game of basketball between the 1993-1994 NBA seasons to pursue a childhood dream of playing professional baseball, Michael Jordan later returned to the NBA and practically picked-up where he had left off by leading and helping the Bulls to winning three additional NBA championships (1996, 1997, and 1998) as well as set an NBA-record 72 regular-season wins in the 1995–96 season. He retired for a second time in 1999, and later returned for two more NBA seasons in 2001 as a member of the Washington Wizards.

Michael Jordan's Career Achievements.

  • Five MVP awards.
  • Ten All-NBA First Team designations.
  • Nine All-Defensive First Team honors.
  • Fourteen NBA All-Star Game appearances.
  • Three All-Star MVP.
  • Ten scoring titles.
  • Three steals titles.
  • Six NBA Finals MVP awards.
  • 1988 NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award.
  • He holds the NBA record for highest career regular season scoring average with 30.12 points per game, as well as averaging a record 33.4 points per game in the playoffs.
  • In 1999, he was named the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century by ESPN.

As you can see, Michael Jordan truly re-defined the standard of excellence while he was in the NBA. Do you think there will ever be another player like him?

Michael Jordan Wins His First NBA Dunk Contest.

Who could forget the first time Michael Jordan dunked the basketball by jumping from the free throw line? It was simply spectacular, and gravity defying!

For a split moment in time, Michael Jordan made us believe that man could actually fly. It is no surprise that he was later called Michael "Air" Jordan.

If you would like to become a great basketball player, there's no better player to study than Michael Jordan. He had a very high basketball IQ, he mastered the fundamentals of basketball, he was a great offensive player, he was a great defensive player, and he made the rest of his teammates better because he always led by example. Michael Jordan "paid the price" for ALL his achievement on the basketball court; nothing was ever handed to him.

Michael Jordan Sets A New Record At Age 38!

At age 38, while playing for the Washington Wizards, Michael Jordan proved to the entire World that he could still dominate a basketball game in the NBA even though he could no longer dunk the basketball from the free throw line.

The following video shows "text book" basketball by Michael Jordan.

Click here to tell us who you think is or will be the next Michael Jordan.

How many professional basketball players do you know that can score over fifty points in the NBA, let alone do it at age thirty-eight? None.

As if that performance wasn't amazing enough, Michael Jordan sets another NBA record by scoring forty-one points at age thirty-nine.

Do you still think he got lucky? Hopefully not. Just for the fun of it, watch the following video to see Michael Jordan set another NBA record by scoring forty-three points at age forty! Take some notes. Seriously.

Did you notice how Michael used different types of shots (such as, jump shots, layups, fade-aways, free throws, and assists)to torch his defenders and render them helpless? Did you also notice how relentless he was on defense despite his "old age?"

The "edge" that Michael Jordan had over other players in the NBA: He understood the game of basketball, and had no "weakness" in terms of his basketball skills. Who knows, if he had played for a better team during his later years, maybe he could have won three more championships.

Unlike some basketball players today, he played the game of basketball, not because of the money, but for his love of the game. His zest to be the best basketball player that he could be was unparrallel. And, his determination to win every single game was unmatched.

What was even more impressive about Michael Jordan was that, he took nothing for granted. He ALWAYS showed up every night ready to compete, regardless of how fatigued or tired or sick that he might be. And, regardless of which basketball team he was competing against, Michael Jordan ALWAYS wanted to win. Truly, he epitomized and embodied what it means to be a champion and a winner.

Despite the fact that he was a physically-gifted athlete, his self discipline never wavered; Michael Jordan was constantly trying to find ways to improve his skills and to get better as a basketball player, which is why it's very difficult to find the next Michael Jordan.

Michael Jordan's Final Game In The NBA

As you noticed from the above video, Michael Jordan was respected by teammates, competitors, coaches and fans alike because he had an exemplary work ethic and a dedication to the game of basketball.

In conclusion, to be the best at anything, you have to think and act like the best. Therefore, if you truly have the desire to be a great basketball player, I have one advice for you: Be like Michael Jordan--if you can.

The Search For The Next Michael Jordan Continues...

Who is going to be the next Michael Jordan? Well, that seems to be the One-Million-Dollar question.

Many awesome basketball players with great promise have been labeled "the next Jordan" in the past but, unfortunately, none of them have measured up.

The closest player thus far has been Kobe Bryant, but Kobe doesn't have that indescribable "thing" that make MJ so special in the eyes of basketball fans around the world.

Lebron James definitely seems to have a great chance of becoming the next "Air Jordan" but, he's yet to win an NBA championship which takes him out of the running.

The following video elaborates on this on-going debate.

Perhaps, we would all be better off to "settle" and simply accept the notion that there will never be another Michael Jordan. Only time will tell...
