How to make a Basketball Chest Pass.

What you should know about making a basketball chest pass...

The chest pass is one of the most important passes in basketball. To make the chest pass, • Place one hand on either side of the ball, fingers spread evenly and loosely. (The grip should be by the fingertips with the palms a fraction of an inch above the surface of the ball.)

• Hold the ball in front of the chest. Pull the hands together until the thumbs are about four inches apart. Hold the elbows close to the body.

Passing to a teammate.

In making a chest pass to a teammate, you must:

1. Step directly toward him with either foot.

2. Thrust the arms toward him until they are fully extended.

3. At the end of the arm thrust, press the thumbs downward, snap the wrists up slightly and turn the backs of the hands toward each other.

Note:

The ball should be drilled at some point between your teammate's shoulders and waist. As the ball travels, it should have good back spin.

Reasons why a basketball chest pass is effective:

The chest pass is effective for many reasons:

• It enables a player to easily make a fake before an actual pass.

• It can be fired quickly.

• It is accurate.

• It can be used with good power, cutting down the possibility of interception.

• It can be used at close and medium range.

• Finally, it can be converted to a bounce or loop pass, or a set shot.
